Introduction
The JCATI Carbon Fiber Recycler is a device being designed and tested to recycle carbon fiber wing trimmings from Boeing commercial jets. These wings trimmings are very wasteful, and carbon fiber is expensive and difficult to break down. The purpose of this device is to provide a way to recycle these trimmings. This is not only better for the environment but it saves money if the carbon fiber can be reused.
This portion of the project is focused on designing and implementing a more functional drive system than what machine has currently. The goal is to switch to a chain drive system, rather than a direct gear drive. Using a chain will allow for some misalignment without binding, which is very hard to control with the amount of torque needed to run the machine.
